The Best Video on the channel!

This is the story of Anyox and Phoenix, two of the largest Copper mines in the world. They were abandoned 100 years ago. Today they lay in ruins totally deserted except for their graveyards. We explore the miles of underground workings that remain to this day. This film was produced with the help of Telus Storyhive that provided a $ 60,000 grant. The film has been shown in film festivals around the world.

Weve explored hundreds of abandoned mines in Canada the United States and Mexico, going places nobody else would dare to go! A New video is produced every Friday, check us out here:

We do this for two main reasons:
1) Documenting the mines for future generations.
2) Collecting artifacts for our museum.

Mines are being filled in, demolished, and/or collapsing at an alarming rate, so it is crucial to document them and save these artifacts while it is still possible.

Join us for our weekly adventures as we go deep underground into historic abandoned hard rock Gold, Silver and Copper mines. We relive the Prospecting, Gold Rush days, going back in history with every expedition. Visiting abandoned and forgotten places, climbing down mine shafts into dangerous mines, finding treasures, seeing antique heavy equipment such as ore carts, crushers, milling machines, ball mills, explosives and other mining equipment.
This isnt Minecraft but the real deal!

Come visit our Exploring Abandoned Mines Museum in Grand Forks, B.C. Canada. The museum is open to the public, free of charge, donations gratefully accepted. We have a huge assortment of mining artifacts accumulated from abandoned mines, donations, and other collections. We also have operating mining equipment on display.
Museum is located at 5615 Kenmore Rd Grand Forks BC Canada V0H-1H4. Best to phone first 250-444-0183. Come for a visit! www.google.com/maps/place/Exploring Abandoned Mines Museum/@49.0112021,-118.4203015,15z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0xe6442ed6471acf4!8m2!3d49.0112021!4d-118.4203015

Buried Alive - Chile Mine Rescue

Subscribe to Naked Science — goo.gl/wpc2Q1

On 5th August 2010, all 33 of the day shift miners at the San Jose mine in Chile were missing and feared killed when their copper and gold mine collapsed. For 17 days no one knew whether they were alive or dead.

Miraculously, after all hope was lost, on the 17th day the specialist drilling rigs looking for signs of life smashed through into the tunnel where the men had been clinging on. All 33 of the men were alive and well.

Buried Alive: The Chilean Mine Rescue was given unprecedented access to the drilling rigs, engineers and medics for the definitive story of how this audacious rescue was carried out.

The film follows the extraordinary story of the 33 miners, trapped underground for 70 days. Above ground, the film makers had unique access to document the highs and lows of the drilling teams as they pounded their way through almost half a mile of granite.

Below ground the programme follows how the miners survived for so long and hears first hand from the doctors and psychologists who were keeping them alive and sane, giving extraordinary insight into the underground hell they had to endure.

The rescue of all 33 Chilean miners has been an extraordinary feat of ingenuity and daring. This factual documentary explains in detail the challenges they faced and the technology they used to overcome all odds.

Buried Alive: The Chilean Mine Rescue gains unique access to the key players involved to tell the story of the tireless, tough and emotional effort that went on at the San Jose Mine, away from the glare of the news cameras

Hunting For Valuable Bottles In A 150-Year-Old Dump

When the American Hotel tragically burned down, so did the old ice house. The ice house sat on top of what was the dump for the American Hotel over 100 years ago, so over the past few months Ive been breaking up the foundation of the ice house and digging through the dump on the hunt for old bottles and other treasures!

I moved to Cerro Gordo in March 2020 because of the pandemic and to relieve our longtime caretaker so he could be back home. Ive been here ever since. There have been ups and downs, but I feel I am learning a lot and becoming a better person.

Follow along on this channel for more from the town. I have no plans to leave and will continue making videos to update the progress on all the projects!

The town was originally established in 1865 and by 1869 they were pulling 340 tons of bullion out of the mountain for Los Angeles.

The silver from Cerro Gordo was responsible for building Los Angeles. The prosperity of Cerro Gordo demanded a larger port city and pushed LA to develop quickly.

The Los Angeles News once wrote:

“What Los Angeles is, is mainly due to it. It is the silver cord that binds our present existence. Should it be uncomfortably severed, we would inevitably collapse.”

In total, there has been over $17,000,000 of minerals pulled from Cerro Gordo. Adjusted for inflation, that number is close to $500,000,000.

It’s been a wild ride so far owning a ‘ghost town’ and we’re having a lot of fun figuring out what to do with it.

Two Years Alone in the Wilderness | Escape the City to Build Off Grid Log Cabin

#logcabin #bushcraft #offgrid #survival
One man leaves the city life behind to build a cheap off grid log cabin and homestead in the Canadian wilderness, including a log home, an outdoor kitchen, an outhouse, a woodshed and a sauna bathhouse. Building mostly with hand tools, Shawn James harvests building materials from the forests north of Toronto, Canada and crafts them into functional tools and shelters using traditional woodworking tools and methods. He practices bushcraft and survival skills every day, including fire starting, tree identification and harvesting, wild edible foraging, fishing, hunting, camping in the summer and winter, travelling by canoe and snowshoe, navigation and water collection and purification.
Continue watching in 2019 as Shawn finishes the sauna, plants a forest garden for fruit and vegetables, builds an underground root cellar, ice house and cheese cave, a timber frame workshop and a remote hunt camp closer to fish and game.
